Welcome to my abstractwings BLOG pages, I will post regular work in progress updates in here
Gouache painting inspired by the beautiful winters evening light highlighting the beech trees around Gortroe Cemetery. To try out a more painterly approach I painted a quick (for me) layout painting to try out the basic composition, shades, tones and lighting, I also limited myself to no more than 4 hours to complete the image seen on the right. Quite pleased with the exercise & results I decided rather than enhance this painting with more details I would start an entirely new painting, to see that painting in high res click the image below.
Decided to tackle another watercolour of the very beautiful and tranquil Lady's Cove. This location was one we used on my recent 3 day painting course in Dumore. I tried painting the scene in the field using oils, with mixed success, time was a bit limited as it always is when painting in the field, so I wasn't really that happy with my partially finished artwork, however as usual I took plenty of photographs on my tablet to use when I had time later, in the comfort of my 'studio'
Thought I would have a go at another watercolour using a mix of translucent wash and opaque 'gouache' styles, think I am rather pleased with the end result
